I would like to announce the unfortunate resignation of our superintendent, Wayne. Wayne and his wife have decided that it is time to move back to Queensland and he has taken up a job opportunity in Gladstone. During his time with the reins in Alice, Wayne has had plenty of challenges and a little stroke of luck with good weather for the first half of his tenure.

Recent algae issues and the incessant heat has presented some challenges but his perseverance has seen us overcome some of these issues. The upgraded drainage and renovated grass on the bowling green has come along very well and although there is more to be done the improvements are quite noticeable thanks to Wayne’s efforts.

Wayne’s last day is only one short week away on Friday 1st March. I am sure you will all join with me in wishing Wayne all the best with his future endeavours and thank him for his amazing work over the past 18 months or so.

You may see some advertisements on social media as we now go on the hunt to find Wayne’s replacement. We have engaged the same company that brought us Justin to the Pro Shop and I am confident that this will see us find a highly skilled individual to propel our club further into the future.

In the meantime it will mean that anyone willing to donate any of their time across the course of the week will be welcomed with open arms. If you can volunteer, please come in and see me so we can have a chat to see what options are available.
